Fees and Charges

Fees

Students at Hughes Hughes Hall pay fees for tuition, catering and accommodation (including a damage deposit).

Fees and charges

The main University of Cambridge website has useful information about fees and living costs, and how to calculate them.

  • If you’re applying for undergraduate study, see the Undergraduate Finance pages.
  • If you’re applying for graduate study, see the Graduate Finance pages.
  • If you’re applying for a graduate course, a combined University Composition Fee covers both University and College fees. See your offer letter and the University’s fees page.
  • If you’re applying for a course in medicine (undergraduate or graduate), please see your offer letter.

The college’s admissions office has assembled a summary of funding guidance for students in different categories, these are available for download:

Band Prices 2020-2021

Prices will be applied from 1 September 2020.
There is a rental increase of 2.5% for 2020, which includes a one-off adjustment incorporating the Kitchen Fixed Charge (KFC). This combined rent will be the only published rent from Sept 2020 onwards.
The rental increase balances inflationary factors affecting running costs (energy prices and staffing being the most significant) with the need to ensure rents remain reasonable and affordable for our students, providing a wide range of price points for accommodation within every category

Prices include utilities (water, gas, electricity) and internet access (wired or wifi). Prices include personal possessions/liability insurance cover for students in single accommodation, but exclude these in couples’ accommodation. Students in couples accommodation can purchase insurance from the brokers but each resident needs to purchase separate cover under that scheme.

Caution Money

Students in College accommodation are responsible for ensuring that they leave their bedrooms in a clean and tidy state at the end of each licence period. All personal possessions (including bedding and items from the kitchen and bathrooms) should be removed. Anything you do not wish to take with you should either be donated to a Charity Shop or disposed of correctly.

Should items be left behind by a student, or the rooms left in a dirty state, the College reserves the right to levy a charge against the Caution Money paid by each student (£250 in 2019-20). A list of these charges is available.
