University of Cambridge Undergraduate Open Days

Our next undergraduate Open Days will take place on Thursday 4 July and Friday 5 July 2024.

Cambridge Open Days are aimed at prospective applicants from Year 12 (or equivalent) and mature applicants (aged 21 or over), together with their parents or supporters, to help them learn more about the University.

Bookings are not required to visit Hughes Hall but maybe for other sessions around the University. More information can be found on the University’s website.

Come and visit us – every Monday or Friday

We run informal tours of College every Monday and Friday at 11am for both prospective applicants and offer holders, and their guests. If you would like to book onto one, please email outreach@hughes.cam.ac.uk. When you arrive, please report to the Porters’ Lodge by the front gates. If you require a parking space, please email us your vehicle registration number ahead of your visit.

Please note that each tour has a maximum capacity of ten people, including guests, and we may not always be able to show you inside our accommodation.

Outreach and events

Join a webinar for mature students

Hughes Hall has partnered with the other two mature colleges in Cambridge, and the University Admissions Office, to run a webinar series designed for mature student applicants; students aged 21 or over looking to study an undergraduate degree.

Each webinar focuses on a different element of the admissions process and will include a presentation by staff, the chance to hear first-hand experiences from current students, and an opportunity for you to ask questions.

December 2023 Webinar: An Introduction to Mature Student Applications, the Mature Colleges, Funding, and the March Deadline. You can watch the 2022 version of this same webinar here.

January 2024 Webinar: UCAS, Admissions Assessments and the ‘My Cambridge’ Application. The link to this year’s webinar will be posted soon. You can watch the 2023 version of this same webinar here.

March 2024 Webinar: Apply online here. The Interview Process – Top Tips, and How Can I Prepare? You can watch the 2023 version of this same webinar here.

Talk to an undergraduate or postgraduate Admissions Tutor online – every Monday or Wednesday

Throughout the year, Hughes Hall admissions tutors are available to meet potential applicants via Microsoft Teams or Zoom. You can use these meetings to ask questions about all aspects of life at Hughes Hall and the admissions pathway. We are available on Mondays, 12-1pm and Wednesdays, 2-3pm.

To book a slot please email outreach@hughes.cam.ac.uk and include your name, the course/s you are considering applying for, and a brief overview of your queries. We look forward to meeting you online, answering your questions and telling you more about applying to Cambridge and life at Hughes.

Our Admissions team and student representatives are happy to answer your questions – on Zoom, via email, on the phone or in person – and pleased to help show you around Hughes Hall.
