Making a difference through music

Presenting …. Electric Alchemy.

On Monday 13th March, 6-7pm, Hughes Hall welcomes back Marianne Olyver, Steve Linton and John Human, presenting Gypsy Jazz, Sting, The Beatles and Country played with a unique virtuoso twist!

But this is a music concert with a difference!

Halima Jalalova Zeynalova, May Lerdprapapong, and Can Uludag are members of Hughes Hall, and MFin students at the Judge Business School. They want to fundraise for the people affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. The trio’s decision to support the Action Aid x DEC’s Turkey & Syria Earthquake Appeal was driven by their personal connections and empathy for the people in the region. Halima and May, have travelled around the affected areas in the past and were moved by the warmth and resilience of all those they met.

Can Uludag, being Turkish himself, feels a deep sense of responsibility to help his countrymen, women and children, during this difficult time: “Together with my fellow students and with the generous support of the musicians, we aim to use the concert at Hughes to raise money and provide support to those in need. We are extremely grateful to the band, Electric Alchemy, for supporting this cause. We know the Hughes Hall Community also shares in our deep concern and grief, and hope they will generously to support those most affected by the earthquake.”

Marianne Olyver  said: “Our Band, Electric Alchemy, were delighted to have been asked by Halima, May and Can to help raise funds for the Action Aid x Dec Earthquake Appeal. I hope our energetic, fun and foot tapping music will spur the audience on to give generously and support such an important cause.”

The concert is open to everyone (non-College members welcome) and is free of charge. Please sign up in the usual way, via Eventbrite. Click here for more information/tickets.
