Lord Nicholas Phillips of Worth Matravers KG PC

Honorary Fellow

One of Britain’s most senior judges, Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, was Master of the Rolls from 2000 to 2005 and Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales from 2005 to 2008. In 2009 he became first President of the newly created Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, retiring in 2012. Knighted in 1987, he received the Order of the Garter in 2011. He served as Chairman of the Council of Legal Education from 1992 to 1997. His acceptance of an Honorary Fellowship is a recognition of the strength of Hughes Hall in postgraduate legal studies.

Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers was elected to an Honorary Fellowship of Hughes Hall in 2011.
