Quondam Fellow

Martin is one of the country’s leading experts in competition law and policy. He is a member of the board of the Competition and Markets Authority and was a Partner at the global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright where he was Global Head of Antitrust and Competition, Head of the Brussels office and a member of the management group, He was co-author of a leading practitioners’ book on the Competition Act 1998.

Martin is a board member of the new higher education regulator, the Office for Students, where he serves as Deputy Chair. He has BA and BCL degrees from Oxford University and was a lecturer in law at Brunel University. He was a Council Member of the Economic and Social Research Council and member of the board of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).

He was a member of the Board of the Solicitors Regulation Authority where he chaired the Education and Training Committee and oversaw the start of the most extensive review of English legal education for over 40 years.

Martin is a trustee of Police Now which places talented graduates as police officers in challenged communities to transform these communities, reduce crime and increase public confidence in policing.
