Professor Tamsin Ford CBE announced as new Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences

We are delighted to share the exciting news that Professor Ford has been included in the latest cohort of academics elected as Fellows of the prestigious Academy of Medical Sciences. 

The group have been chosen for their exceptional contributions to advancing biomedical science via world-leading research discoveries, running national science communication and engagement programmes and translating scientific advances into benefits for patients and the public.

One of six affiliates of the University of Cambridge to have been chosen via this year’s election process, Professor Ford said: “I have long admired, and been involved in, the work the Academy has lead to increase the involvement of medical students in research with their INSPIRE programme and I am delighted and honoured to have been elected to the Fellowship”

As well as a Governing Body Fellow at Hughes Hall, Professor Ford is an internationally renowned Child Psychiatric Epidemiologist, whose achievements include publishing over 200 peer-reviewed papers and receiving a CBE in 2019 for services to Psychiatry. 

During the Coronavirus crisis she has been focussed on looking at the mental health impact of the pandemic on children and young people.
