Hughes Hall wishes to reassure offer holders that offers will be honoured

The University of Cambridge has issued a statement today (3.2.21) about media coverage suggesting a potential withdrawal of offers for undergraduate places due to oversubscription.

“You may have seen stories in the press this morning which have not represented the University’s position fairly. We would like to reassure students that we will honour the offers we make to them when they meet the terms of those offers. An oversubscription clause was introduced this year simply to offer clarity to offer holders and make them aware of their choices, in the unlikely event that we would have to accommodate greater numbers. This could be by discussing options around deferring, or providing a place at a College which wasn’t a first choice. This is about planning for the most exceptional of circumstances.”
