The Role of Faith in Sustainable Global Health

All are welcome to attend the next seminar in our Cultural Contexts of Sustainable Global Health series.

This seminar examines the impact on researchers and practitioners on their own values and faith and of those who they researched or cared for. Part of the belief system of biomedical science has been that the implementation of empirically derived evidence will deliver positive results independent of metaphysical factors. This has in some respects become a faith in itself.

Speakers:

  • Dr Mehrunisha Suleman is associated with the Department of Public Health and Primary Care and is Research Associate at the Centre for Islamic Studies  in Cambridge. She will focus on researchers.
  • Arzoo Ahmed is a researcher at the Nuffield Council on Bioethics and a research associate on Genomics, Islamic Ethics and Public Engagement project at Hamad bin Khalifa University in Qatar. She will concentrate on the impact of faith on practitioners.
