Women’s Stories: Changing the World

Friday 8 March, 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm, Pavilion Rm

This Postdoc led International Women’s Day event will bring together two inspiring speakers from different backgrounds.

Join in what will be a stimulating conversation and an empowering celebration, with opportunities to chat and network.

After our speakers’ introductions, we will have a Q&A and panel conversation about navigating life and careers as women, celebrating women’s strengths, and touch on gender equality issues in the world.

The event will be followed by the traditional Hughes Hall International Women’s Day Formal Hall at 19:00, for which current college members and guests can sign up separately in the usual way (booking opens up from the 19th Feb for this FH). Click here.

Panellists

Zahra Joya
Zahra Joya is an Afghan journalist living in London and the editor-in-chief and founder of Rukhshana Media, a news agency reporting on life for women and girls in Afghanistan. She was named among TIME’s Women of the Year in 2022, and shared her story of dressing up as a boy to go to school in her 2022 interview with Angelina Jolie.

Megan Hunter
Hughes Hall By-Fellow Megan Hunter is an English novelist and poet. She is best known for her debut novel The End We Start From (2017), a climate disaster survival story which was adapted into a movie of the same name, released in 2023 and starring Jodie Comer & Benedict Cumberbatch
