We are pleased to invite you to join us in the next in our series of monthly fireside chats with a diverse range of legal professionals committed to using their skills to accelerate climate action. In this series, you will have the chance to ask questions and discuss how experienced lawyers are tackling climate change, and how you might do the same in your career.
This month’s will be a discussion with Adv Nina Pindham and Ms Annette Magnusson
Adv. Nina Pindham
Adv. Nina Pindham is a Barrister at No5 Barristers Chambers. She is a member of the Planning and Environment group and has wide-ranging practice focusing in particular on environmental law matters in the context of planning applications, including controversial minerals development, hazardous substances consent, waste, EIA, SEA, agriculture, water, air quality, and nature conservation issues. She is the editor of Trees Chapter in Butterworth’s Planning Law Encyclopedia and a legal editor of the ENDS Report. She has appeared before the High Court, Court of Appeal, and the Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee, and regularly prosecutes and defends environmental law matters in the criminal courts.
She is ranked as a Tier 1 Planning/Environmental Junior by the Legal 500 (“a rising star”), as one of the country’s top-rated juniors by Planning Magazine, and has been ranked as a leading junior by Chambers and Partners every year since 2016.
Ms. Annette Magnusson
Ms. Annette Magnusson is the co-founder of Climate Change Counsel, a small think-and-do-tank with a mission to mobilise the law and lawyers for climate action. Prior to co-founding Climate Change Counsel, Annette was Secretary General of the Arbitration Institute of Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC). She holds more than 20 years’ experience of international law, including from global law firms. She is the founder of Stockholm Treaty Lab, a crowdsourcing initiative focussed on innovating international law to achieve climate change mitigation and adaptation targets. Ms. Annette was shortlisted for the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Award in 2017. She is a frequent speaker on law and climate change and has been listed as a Thought Leader and Global Leader in Who’s Who Legal, and “a thought leader and global star” by Global Arbitration Review.
