Book Launch: Digital Development (by invitation)

Tuesday 4 October, 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm, Peter Richards Room

DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT: Stories of hope from health and social development by Sundeep Sahay, Arunima Mukherjee, Geoffrey Walsham and Thomas Hylland Eriksen

Cambridge Digital Innovation (CDI) invites you to attend the launch of this ground breaking book exploring the impact of information and communication technologies on development. The case studies in this exciting new book, from across India, Kenya, Guatemala, Sri Lanka and more, shed light on how and why ICT applications (Health Information Systems, Pandemic response systems, Early Warning and Response Systems, Hospital Information System and Smartphone based Apps) are so important in addressing today’s most pressing challenges. These stories of hope will inspire all those involved in designing policy and development practice.

The editors will be in attendance to share their thoughts and experiences throughout the evening. There will also be a keynote address by Richard Heeks, Professor of Digital Development in the Global Development Institute at The University of Manchester, reflecting on the relevance and significance of the insights provided in Digital Development.

Drinks and nibbles will be served in an informal, relaxed event to learn about the book and connect with peers.
