Jack Merritt Memorial Match

The All Greys RUFC at Cambridge University warmly invite you to the Jack Merritt Memorial Match at Grange Road this Saturday, March 9th.

Gates open at 1pm and kick-off is 2pm, at Grange Road.

Jack Merritt was a Hughes Hall graduate who tragically lost his life in a terror attack in London in 2019, along with fellow Cambridge graduate Saskia Jones. He is remembered with great fondness at Hughes Hall and through a scholarship provided in his memory.

Jack was an exceptional person on and off the rugby pitch with the ability to connect with all those who met him. He tragically passed away at Fishmongers’ Hall where he was working to tackle injustice within prisoner rehabilitation. A dear friend and teammate to the All Greys, the rugby club for Hughes Hall, Wolfson, Darwin, St Edmunds and Clare Hall, he is sorely missed. In his memory, the team are honoured to organise this event annually, to celebrate Jack’s life through the sport that brought them together.

The All Greys RUFC are honoured to celebrate Jack’s life through the sport that brought them together.

The All Greys – having just won the League – will take on an invitational Jack Merritt XV, primarily composed of our Old Boys (including several ex-Blues!).

Tickets are £5.00, with all proceeds heading to “Break”, a charity chosen by Jack’s parents, which works in East Anglia with young people and children on the edges of care, in care, and leaving care. You can purchase tickets here: www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/jack-merritt-memorial-match-tickets-830117101597.

The bar and hatch will be open for food and drinks throughout the day and you are welcome to watch the England-Ireland match (4:45pm KO) afterwards in the bar.
