A huge congratulations to Hughesian Tom Ransley (BA (aff), 2009, Management Studies) who won a gold medal in the men’s eight at the Rio Olympics on Saturday. This is the first time the men’s eight has won a gold medal since 2000. The British world champions led through-out the race to beat Germany who won silver and the Netherlands who won bronze. Coach Jurgen Grobler said “There are no secrets. Hard, hard, work, having vision of what is coming up and running a good training programme – and they’re still having fun.” Tom is now Hughes’ first ever gold medal winning olympian. Well done Tom!
