Oliver Urquhart Irvine is Executive Director, Programmes and Collections, at the Royal Institute of British Architects and a current Member of the Library and Archives Committee, Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and the UK’s Spoliation Advisory Panel. Oliver is also honorary Curator of Valuables at Hughes Hall (since December 2022).

Previously he was University Librarian, Director of Learning, Research and Enterprise, and Trustee at SOAS University of London, The Librarian and Deputy Keeper of the Royal Archives, Windsor Castle, Head of the British Library Qatar Foundation Partnership and of the British Library’s Department of Asian and African Studies. Oliver was a part-time postgraduate student at Hughes Hall 2008-9 and has had a successful 25-year career looking after some of the world’s largest, and most valuable collections. He was appointed a Member of the Victorian Order by Queen Elizabeth II in 2018.
