Quondam Fellow

Prof. Mark Blamire is a former Head of the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy, past Vice-President of Hughes Hall and former Fellow of Trinity College. He is a Distinguished Research Fellow of the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy and his research interests are focused on superconductivity, with particular focus on the coupling of superconductivity and ferromagnetism to develop novel superconducting forms of spin electronics. He has around 500 publications including recent papers in Science Advances and Physical Review Letters.
Since retiring from the University in 2019 he has taken a training Internship and become a Volunteer Warden with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds based at Fairburn Ings in Yorkshire.
