Fei teaches Mandarin Chinese at CLIC, Engineering Department, University of Cambridge.

Over the past four years, Fei has been trialing the concepts behind a dual-purpose curriculum.  The curriculum is rooted in language acquisition and intercultural studies while incorporating theories and practice from philosophy and counselling psychology.

Fei’s original interest was in grammar and she completed a PhD at UCL Institute of Education in contrastive rhetoric, comparing discourse grammar in Chinese and English expository writings.

More recently, Fei’s interest in psychology led her to focus on the learning process and the learners as well as the language. Fei is also interested in the role of experiential learning, reflexivity and subjectivity in developing Intercultural Competence.

Fei currently splits her time teaching Chinese in the Engineering Department, running her own psychotherapy practice and volunteering at Cogwheel Counselling.
