Research By-Fellow
Dr Derya Cavga is a postdoctoral researcher in the laboratory of Prof. Jussi Taipale, at the Department of Biochemistry. She studied Molecular Biology and Genetics at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, and completed her Ph.D. at the Computational Systems Biology Lab at Koc University in Istanbul, Turkey.
Derya’s current research aims to identify small molecules that can inhibit transcription factor – DNA interactions that drive cancer. She uses the high-throughput SELEX method with the help of liquid handling robots and Illumina sequencing, conducting both the wet-lab and sequence data analysis aspects.
Outside of research, Derya is interested in taking actions for climate change and equality. She likes asking questions and learning, and enjoys reading, live music, photography, and swimming.
