Spring is here and students are smiling – and studying – in the sunshine again

Sarah Langford, Communications Manager, visits College, camera in hand, to reacquaint herself with the place and its people.

Being at College today felt a bit like coming out of hibernation. As I walked around the grounds, it was wonderful to smell the blossom, hear the bees and meet people making the most of the weather. Having worked at home for the past year, it reminded me why I love working at Hughes Hall and how much I’m looking forward to getting back to it.

John Horwood, Facilities Manager, has worked onsite throughout the restrictions of the past year:

“I must admit, it’s been quiet around the corridors, but hopefully we’ve helped to provide safe spaces for our students to use the College and, more recently, to enjoy the fresh air. Don’t forget, the marquee is open now as a social and study space. It’s really nice to see more students around – we’re always here if you need a hand.”

I see snow is forecast over much of the country for Easter weekend!

We’d love to hear from our students about your experiences over the past year, how your studies and research are progressing, and if you have ideas for activities, events, and other ways College can support you.

We are also developing new content about our students for the website to help inspire and inform applicants, especially at a time when they can’t visit College, so please get in touch if you have a story you’d like to tell.
