Margaret Drabble 'In Conversation' with Mary Buckley

On Friday 31 January, award winning author Margaret Drabble was ‘In Conversation’ with Professor Mary Buckley. Margaret answered questions on her days in Cambridge, the themes explored in her novels and other issues, including attitudes towards mental health and gender relations. Margaret’s most recent novel The Pure Gold Baby has received outstanding reviews. The Observer described it as ‘profoundly stirring’ and the Independent lauded its ‘amazing emotional power.’ After the discussion there was a lively question and answer session and Margaret was presented with flowers by Hughes librarian Diana Hutchison.
