Hughes Hall Law Undergraduate Publishes in Singapore Law Review

Final-year Hughes Hall BA Law student, Timothy Liang has authored an article entitled: “Champerty: Relic of a Bygone Era?” which has been published in the Singapore Law Review.

The piece focuses on the issue of investment banks and hedge funds buying into lawsuits, as well as the emerging practice of lawyers having a stake in the outcome of litigation through Conditional Fee Arrangements (“CFAs”) in the United Kingdom, Singapore and Hong Kong. The publication of this article was made possible by the unwavering support of Hughes Hall Director of Studies Dr Markus Gehring, along with the assistance of fellow Hughes Hall BA Law student Jian Wei Aw.

The Singapore Law Review is one of Singapore’s leading law journals and features submissions from students, practitioners and members of the judiciary. It is available online via HeinOnline, and copies of it can be obtained from the Cambridge University Squire Law Library.
