The Hughes Hall Enterprise Awards, launched last year, have won sponsorship from global legal recruitment company Blue Pencil, whose Chief Executive is Hughes alumnus Liam Mooney (1994). The partnership will run for three years, giving Blue Pencil exclusive naming rights to the Awards.
Liam commented: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Hughes Hall/Blue Pencil Enterprise Awards. Innovation and enterprise are core values at Blue Pencil and the Awards partnership is reflective of this – and like Hughes Hall we have a global reach, with a network of business contacts expertise in every corner of the world. This global network of business contacts can provide valuable support and real value to the Enterprise Society and to the competitors in the Prize awards”. Founded in Bristol in 2002, the company now has offices in Monaco, Dubai, London and Bangkok.
Liam went on: “On a personal level, as an alumnus of Hughes Hall, I am delighted to support these awards over the next three years and watch the competition grow. Both the College and Cambridge University have given me fantastic experiences and opportunities, many of which I use in my business today. I am delighted to help students to experience the same opportunities that I did and I am very much looking forward to meeting the finalists on May 3rd”.
Hughes Hall Development Director Richard Berg Rust commented: “We’re delighted to win this support from Blue Pencil and the involvement of an alumnus makes it better – we are a close community at Hughes and Liam is one of our own”.
Liam, a double rugby Blue at Cambridge who played for London Irish and Exeter Chiefs, also founded Club Fit For Business in 2013, a non-profit global sports business community with which the College will also be developing partnerships in future.
The Hughes Hall Enterprise Society, whose President is Rupert Pearce-Gould, Senior Member of the College and Entrepreneur in Residence at the Judge Business School, was created in a novel partnership between the Development Office and MCR in 2014. It is now the largest Society at Hughes with over 100 members.
