Hong Kong alumni out in force

Two dozen Hughesians enjoyed a Shanghainese feast on Tuesday evening at the Kiangsu Chekiang and Shanghai Club, Hong Kong, where President Anthony Freeling described the College’s journey from modest beginnings in 1885 to a major presence today with the second largest number of postgraduates and real academic strength in a range of areas. Future development plans were outlined and a sense of great optimism and energy was palpable. We are set fair for the future.

Our special relationships in Hong Kong were again in evidence at the University Campaign launch event last night where the 22 College guests made up the largest contingent of any College. Among a number of film presentations, the 370 guests greatly enjoyed seeing Hughes Life Fellow Dr Ron Zimmern and Henry Hoffstot, the Hughes President of CUBC and Boat Race victor. As one guest called out: “Go Hughes!”
