When you come to Hughes Hall, you will join a vibrant, self-confident community of students, postdocs, early-career and senior researchers and leaders from the wider world. Including our worldwide alumni, this is a network of friends and supporters that spans the globe and ensures that our ideas have international influence.
All our students, whether pursing an undergraduate or postgraduate course, are mature adults, which means a very different atmosphere in College to those with 18-year-old’s straight from school. Some are pursuing an undergraduate course, though the majority are studying at Masters level or above. As a result, everyone brings extra experience to their study, having pursued a different route to study at the College. We are proudly multinational and multiethnic, with students and senior members from more than 75 countries at any one time; their various cultures greatly enhance College life.
As a College, we will support you in your studies and play our role in preparing you for your future life, whether entering the world of work or pursuing a research career. At Hughes, you will find yourself in the right environment to thrive. You will be a member of at least one of the College Study Areas (Law, Biomedicine, Business and Economics, Education, Physical and Mathematical Sciences, or HASS – Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences), through which our senior members and students share knowledge and ideas in the form of seminars, discussion meetings, opportunities for networking with leaders in the relevant professions and industries, and support with career related skills.
