Reiko Fujisawa Piano Recital

November 24 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

International concert pianist Reiko Fujisawa performs a programme of contrasts featuring Takemitsu’s delicate Rain Tree Sketch II, Thomas Adès’ rhythmic Three Mazurkas and Chopin’s mighty Piano Sonata No.3 in B minor, Op.58.

More about Reiko
Reiko Fujisawa fuses the sensibilities of a musician raised in the Far East who trained in the West. She studied at Tokyo’s Musashino University of Music but was eager to further her knowledge abroad. She spent time in San Francisco and later the UK. There she trained at Trinity College with Martino Tirimo, Benjamin Kaplan and Yonty Solomon. She has been in London ever since.

Reiko has established herself as an exciting and formidable virtuoso performer. She made her debut at Southbank Centre in 1999 and the Wigmore Hall in 2003, and performed with the Soloists of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the inaugural season at London’s Cadogan Hall in 2006. She has since made appearances at prestigious venues around the UK and overseas. Performances include the Brighton, Belfast, Warwick & Leamington Festivals, and King’s Place in London. This season Reiko’s busy schedule includes concerts at the new Stoller Hall in Manchester, the Hebden Bridge Piano Festival, London’s King’s Place (with the Carducci Quartet) and Southbank Centre’s newly-refurbished Purcell Room.

A highlight of Reiko’s career so far is an acclaimed CD of works by Bach, Beethoven and Schubert, released on Quartz. Her next CD will feature Bach’s Goldberg Variations.
