Teacher Development, Schools Self Improvement and Lesson Study

February 21 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Join us for our February Education Subject Area Event: Teacher Development, Schools Self Improvement and Lesson Study on Wednesday 21st February.

Pete Dudley, City Fellow for Education at Hughes Hall and a management team member of its study centre Oracy Cambridge will talk about Lesson Study, a Japanese phenomenon in teacher development and school improvement that over the past 18 years has become widely practised in the UK.

Pete will:
Describe the approach and provide insights into:

  • how it works,
  • why it works,
  • what the current evidence is suggesting about impact,
  • and what its potential is for development.

Talk about:

  • the spread of Lesson Study globally, from his perspective as current President of Singapore based World Association of Lesson Studies, and
  • what potential that may offer for international development of educational and classroom practices.

He will draw strong links between oracy, teacher professional development and the development of effective practice across groups of self-improving schools.

This will be a discursive session with opportunities for discussion and plenty of conversation.

Come and ask questions, network and engage with other college members in Education. Free wine, soft drinks and finger food will be provided.

If you wish to attend this event, please register via the Eventbrite page (link below).
