Hughesian Dara Alizadeh appointed as President of CUBC 2018-19

Hughes Hall Education undergraduate Dara Alizadeh has been appointed as Cambridge University Boat Club President for the 2018/19 season, the third Hughesian President in four years.

Dara recently competed in the 2018 Boat Race in seat 4, accompanied by fellow Hughesians James Letten (3) and Finn Meeks (6). The Cambridge crews completed a clean sweep this year with Goldie, Blondie, CUWBC and CUBC triumphant against their Oxford counterparts.

Dara commented on his appointment: ‘It’s a huge honour and privilege to serve as President, and I look forward to leading the team for the 2018-2019 campaign. CUBC is a wonderful club, and the Boat Race campaign has been absolutely incredible. Coming off the win this year, we’ll be looking to build on the momentum created this year, and we’ll work hard to achieve victory in 2019’.

Quoted on the Cambridge University Boat Club website, 2017-18 President Hugo Ramambason said, ‘I’m delighted that Dara has elected to serve as next year’s President. He was one of the drivers of the squad’s strong performance this season, bringing plenty of energy to the boat from his seat. I’m really excited to see him build on what we accomplished.’
