Pauline is a Senior Manager for Global Health at the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR)’s Central Commissioning Facility. She enables global health research experts and the wider global health research community in the UK to partner with colleagues in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs) around the world to strengthen capacity in the LMICs. The partners also jointly conduct innovative and internationally outstanding applied health research to address issues affecting the most vulnerable people in these LMICs, using the UK’s Official Development Assistance funding.
Prior to joining the NIHR in 2019, Pauline was employed at the University of Cambridge from 2009 to 2018, after completing MPhil, PhD and postdoctoral research in the same institution (and undergraduate studies at the University of Ghana). She was instrumental in establishing, growing and managing the multifaceted, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary Cambridge-Africa Programme, with the core aim of strengthening research capacity in African institutions and supporting internationally-competitive and self-sustaining African research leaders.
Pauline has been a Senior Member/Associate of Hughes Hall since 2013, helping to connect the College to African students and researchers, as well as organising and supporting Africa-focused initiatives. Since 2019, she has been supporting the College’s interest in advancing global health research translation and impact locally and internationally, via ‘The Bridge’ initiative.
