Tokyo Woman's Christian University visits Hughes for the summer

Each summer Hughes welcomes visitors from Tokyo Woman’s Christian University (TWCU) and this year’s participants have now arrived to attend lectures and seminars, as well as participating in a wide range of other activities with Cambridge University students.

The academic summer school was inaugurated in 2007, part of a wider collaborative agreement made in 2005 between the two institutions, with the goal of providing the visiting alumnae with a good understanding of English and the opportunity to broaden their knowledge at Cambridge.

Tokyo Woman’s Christian University and Hughes Hall have a deep historical relationship that began when Tetsu Yasui, who later became the second President of Tokyo Woman’s Christian University, came to Cambridge to study with Elizabeth Hughes, the first Principal of Hughes Hall.

We’re delighted to welcome our friends from TWCU and wish them an enjoyable stay.
