In Memoriam: Dilan Rajakaruna, an MPhil student at Hughes Hall, passed away peacefully in hospital after a long illness. We extend our deepest sympathies to his partner Zara and his family.
MCR President Harry Holkham comments: ‘Dilan joined Hughes for Michaelmas 2017 and had already expressed a keen interest in becoming more involved with the MCR. He was passionate about reducing the barriers for disabled students joining Hughes and supporting those that do. His enthusiasm will be missed but we will work to further his ideas.’
Academic Resources Fellow Dr Corinne Roughley adds: ‘It has been a great privilege to have Dilan and his partner Zara become part of our community at Hughes Hall this term. Dilan’s determination to undertake a demanding academic course despite the difficulties he was experiencing has been truly inspirational. My overriding memories of Dilan will be of his quiet cheerfulness and positive attitude to life.’
There will be a gathering in College next week for those who wish to pay their respects to Dilan.
