Hughes Hall is proud to be collaborating with the Faculty of Education and Department of Architecture at the University of Cambridge .
The School Design Study Group (SDSG) create a space for educationalists, spatial practitioners, academics and students to engage in discussion, test theories, share ideas and learn about school design in an interdisciplinary environment. It operates though a variety of formats, including invited guest speakers, reading sessions and site visits.
Lent Term Programme
- Session 1: 25 January, 5.30 pm to 6.45 pm, Peter Richards Room
Pizza and Readings (not necessarily in that order) A seriously social start to the term, combining Hughes Hall pizzas with two readings about experiencing school buildings. - Session 2: 8 February, 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm, Council Room
Seminar A seminar led by Design Anthropologist, Ziona Strelitz, on researching the user experience of buildings, focussing on education spaces. - Session 3: 22 February, 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm
School visit Join us for a tour of the Cambridge Academy of Science & Technology, guided by its architect Carol Lees, along with school staff and pupils. - Session 4: 8 March, 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm, Peter Richards Room
Film Festival A relaxed session to end the term; join our micro-festival of short, inspirational videos about the future of schools and school design; and maybe some popcorn.
