Conference Facilities
Hughes Hall is a small and friendly college of the University of Cambridge. It enjoys a central location, close to both the railway and bus stations and surrounded by the city’s sports and leisure facilities. We offer a modern purpose-built conference suite, carefully designed to complement the original buildings and lovely gardens of the College.
Meeting Rooms
The Hughes Hall conference suite contains three meeting rooms of varying sizes, which open onto a foyer with informal seating and its own entrance and cloakrooms. The rooms are spacious and well lit, the furniture is comfortable and flexible, and the decor is simple but pleasant.

All rooms in this modern building can be adapted for various uses including lectures, seminars, boardroom-style meetings and receptions. The Pavilion Room seats 80 people for a lecture or 40 for a boardroom-style meeting, while the two seminar rooms each seat 28 for a lecture or 12 for a meeting.
In addition the Garden Room, a free-standing building in the middle of the College gardens, can be used for lectures of up to 40 people or meetings for 25.
Equipment
Whiteboards and flip charts are provided in every room. Overhead projectors and screens are supplied on request. Other equipment can be made available at modest charges. This includes a Powerpoint enabled computer and projector. If you wish to access the Internet using your own computer during a conference, you will need to fill in this form in advance.
Accommodation
Facilities are available for non-residential conferences throughout the year. Residential conferences can be booked outside the University term: delegates will be housed in student rooms on the College site with meals served in our Dining Room. Please ask for additional information if this is of interest. During term, the Conference Officer can make arrangements for accommodation with local hotels.
Parking
A limited amount of free car parking permits are available at Hughes Hall, but must be booked in advance. Clamping is in operation by an external contractor. In addition there is a large public car park adjacent to the College. Out of term, parking is available for residential conferences.
Refreshments
Hughes Hall offers extremely flexible catering arrangements for conferences. Coffee and tea, with biscuits or cakes, can be served in the conference rooms or the adjacent atrium area. We can provide a cold buffet lunch served in the beautifully appointed Combination/Pfeiffer Room. Various menus are available on request and special catering arrangements can be made if desired. Wine can be provided on a ‘sale or return’ basis.

The following map illustrates how to reach Hughes Hall by road from major airports, as well as from the Cambridge bus and railway stations. It is a five-minute walk from the College into the centre of the historic City.
